My father died in 1999. I was quite young at the time. Due to a series of events I have lost his biodata. I remember his birth month and day but not the exact year (it is either 1947 or 49). I don't have any living close relatives that can remember the year. Also I have been living abroad for the last 7 years and it would be difficult for me to visit my home country (Pakistan) to dig up the goverment records.

Will it be a problem if I submit my application without my father's birth date? Can I use approximate year with a comment that I don't know the exact year? I know this is an unusual problem. But please offer advice as I really need it.

If there is no way to get it, then you should put what you think it is and also write a letter.

Isn't it on your birth certificate.

You mean I should send a letter with my forms to Sydney explaining that I don't know it exactly?
Do you think it will affect my chances adversely?

Thanks.

Well it might but its better than lying and them catching it out. So is it not on your birth certificate?

Thats very Strange ..This never happens in our country!! ;D
I have seen BC's only with the persons DOB...Not their parents.. lol
Birth certificate refers to one person( his/her date and palce of birth & name of his/her parents) not the full Family!! lol

This has to be the worst logic that I have ever read.

1) Full family implies brothers and sisters. No, it is only parent's information that is found on a BC along with the persons.
2) Does not your BC have your parents' name. Why does it have all your family's names then!! lol.
3) As you can see, it has some information such as parents' name. Similarly, it can have some information like parent's DOB and place of birth. Because in places like UK, if the BC said, the child of MICHAEL SMITH AND SARAH SMITH, it could be many people's child. They need some other information to further identify the parents. In some countries, where they do not have ID certificates, DOB and place of birth of parents is the best indicator.

NOTE this does not mean it has FULL FAMILY's information (where family size is larger than 3) and I think the senior member is saying that it MIGHT have parent's DOB, not that it WILL have parent's DOB.

If it is found on BC, it might be on the OP's BC too. Why don't we let him check and if it is there, then all is good. If it is not there, then we can try come up with another strategy. For him to check is a low cost affair.

Remember, just because a parent's DOB is not on someone's BC does not mean it is not on others. There is no reason for me lie about my BC. lol. Actually, mine has some information on my grandparents too.

I appreciate your way of logic ;D( Logical?? is it?).....Indeed your post is logical lol!!!!
it would happen in OP's BC too , I presume he will get his full family data in his DOB .. Logical again!!! lol...
Thanks for making me understand that, weird things happen in some places!!

You are the person who said full family and I showed how absurd it is to say full family.
Of course, you probably have not seen more than one BC or perhaps only BCs from one country.
Its not your fault.

(If BC should only have the person's information, why put in the parent's names).

You have to accept that different countries work differently. That does not make it strange or it makes you xenophobic.

Like Rup said, wait for cantab to check his BC and give different suggestion. Like Rup asked, why would he (or I) lie on here? Mind answering that?

Yes, lets wait for OP to check his BC.
