Hi forum, I am sponsoring my wife and daughter and they were requester their passport as the last step in the process I suppose. Since we want to plan the things ahead and still dont have the visa, Do you know when is the deadline to travel to Canada? is it 1 year after the medical examination they took? any idea? Thanks.

Yes, generally 1 year after medical exam - unless their passports are expiring sooner.

If you receive the confirmation of PR, they always write the expiration date on it.

Like Scylla said, it's always 12 months after the medical or at the passport expiration date if it's less than 12 months.

No, it's not always 12 months after medical (or passport expiration). Typically that's true.

But IRCC can and sometimes does extend validity of medicals.

Extending the medical is an exception, not the RULE and depends on the IRCC Agent or the memo.

12 months medical validity or passport validity if less than 12 months is the rule.

Finally all answers above are OK.

1. 1 year after the oldest medical exam or the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first.
