Hello all,

CIC received my application on Dated May 30, 2014. I sent DD along this application. I made DD through HDFC bank payable at Bank of Nova Scotia, Canada. Hdfc Bank is not able to help me to know that DD has charged or not at yet?? From where I can find that DD has been charged or not. Please help... very tense situation..

Also, will I receive any mail from CIC that DD has been charged ......

Sir

Your bank is the only source who can confirm this.
You will get PER email from CIC , in case your DD is encashed

if you are not getting any help with HDFC bank ... ask them to give you the details of ZONAL OFFICER for that branch. It is your bank's duty to provide you with whatever information they can and they cannot simply deny you.

adding on to that .... if your DD was made in MAY is would have been expired as of now as the date of expiry is 3 months from the date of issue.

You should definately check with BANK on this and claim your money back.
 
yeah the DDs in india has validity of 3 months... how to go ahead then?
 
No as DD is a prepaid instrument so reserve bank clearly says that it is valid for 6 months. Validity is clearly written on DD. I sent DD with 6 months validity from HDFC Bank. DD advise slip has a swift code or something like that. That number can confirm the payment status. Go to branch from where you got your DD or better send them an email. They can not deny.
 
I really wonder how can BANK issue DD without holding your account in that BANK, If you have bank account you can also check online..

Its not 6 months, it is only 3 months..
 
Better to go with Thomas cook.
They will take half an hour to give u DD. there will not be any validity mentioned on DD. So by default it is 6 months for international DDs. Just call them and ask for rate and amount, then make a DD from your bank in favour of "Thomas cook India Limited".
Go alognwith your passport copy and original passport and DD, all other forms they will fill themselves.
However, you may be charges 1-2% more, but is convenient and without any problem for validity.

Please do not make comments when you are not sure about. People here take the advise by heart and any wrong advise may lead to some problem for them later. I've sent my application with a DD from HDFC Bank which has "Valid for Six Months" clearly written on it. In case anyone want the proof I can send a copy.
 
HI Amit,

Please don`t take me in wrong way, I am not here to misguide anyone,Before i send my application when i contacted AXIS,HDFC and ICICI they told that DD is valid for 3 months as per new RBI rules, So i have filled my CC and send my application.Based on my experience only i have commented above.
 
No issues brother, I am just sharing my experience.
