The first step includes:
- Check all the docs to make sure everything is included before sending to embassy
- If sponsor is eligible based on the criteria

They do not look into the sponsored person details. That's something that must be done by overseas offices. In spousal sponsorship applications only 3 things are important:
- Health
- Security
- Genuine marriage

Friends do you think it's true that if your first step is approved then it's most likely you get approved for the second step as well? I heard that from someone, that at the 1st step they usually sort things out for the entire file, well off course if there's something wrong with the medical, or police certificate, fake marriage, etc... then that's a different story.

hey guys , for those who got ppr's , do they just email the applicant or they let the sponsor know aswell??? Did you guys also check your ecas ? does your status change from "in process" when they have emailed you ?

Hi pezh our lawyer was the only one to receive the email for PPR. We received email on the 14 of August. My husband landed in Canada on the 24 of August. Our ecas still just said " in process" until the week of aug 27-31 (I can't remember the exact date) it then changed to complete and they added details about the date he recieved Visa and which airport he landed in to become a permanent resident. It was the most details I had ever seen on our ecas!

my hubby's status hasn't changed to "in process" yet, why is that so? and u niloo joon and some other friends around my timeline have been changed to in process status, while ours still is "application received" what do u think?

id suggest you order the gcsm notes as well...although u dont get much info with it atleast you can see the remarks made on it by the officer. but as people have said some officers are not good with updating ecas...

i was just looking at my notes and i have the same note as u have about excessive demand. to be honest with u im not really sure what page of it is the most important part to look at, cuz in page 8 when it says security screening, nothing is there in front of status. so im not sure if they are working on the security screening or not. on Page 9 for the Criminality it says passed.

hbehname everything is listed from the most recent note or revision made by the officer. for our file for medical it says passed. and then on the most recent line it says its valid till july 2013 (date our medical expired this year). the only thing they are waiting on is our security check...so im presuming it is the same for yours as well.

So to give some info and answer few questions:

- As I mentioned before the emailed me & CCed my wife for PPR. It might be different for us as our case was exceptional and they were contacting me all the time to sort things out.

- Criminality check is what you sent for them. For Iranians is "adam sooe pishine" or police clearance.

- Security check is what Canadian agency conducts and many factors can affect the length of processing. Embassy has no control on the process. Many things including field of study, work experience and organization you work for, military service specially "sepah" (for men), if your dad or close relative hold a position in government or was part of some groups like "mojahedin" and so on and so forth. So you can not really predict anything in this part and can not compare to others. For those who have traveled to US, UK or other countries that do proper security check for visa then it might be faster as your name and passport number is already in their dadabase.

- We sent my wife's passport to embassy by courier (we do not live in Iran). The passport was received at the embassy on Friday afternoon, visa was issued on Monday and we received the passport on Friday so it only took one week (although in PPR email says 4-6 weeks)

- There was a posting while ago that for those who traveled to other countries, embassy told them to wait for another security check. Obviously this was not the case for us, even though we have traveled to 5 different countries (including US & UK) in the last 12 months (while the file was with the embassy)

- Once your received your visa, make sure to take the CPR with you to Canada.

- Even though that in the PPR says my wife's visa is valid until August 2013 but her visa is actually valid until July 2013 (one year after she redid medicals). So once you get your visa make sure to check the expiry date of the visa.

- From what I hear from others, it seems Ankara is very cooperative with medical exams. So hopefully this can help most of you. For my wife, 20 months was passed since her initial medicals so they requested to redo it and we were fine with it, as we are living together so one more month would not kill us.

- In your CAIPS notes, if it says passed then means that part is completed but if it's blank, it mean that part still pending.

ya i think mine is same as urs. for mine it says criminality passed but on other page says not started. medical passed. but security screening it says not started.

Hey Guys

Today we had a call from embassy in Turkey and my wife received the PPR email after the call. I wanted just inform you and i hope and wish you hear good news in following days.I sponsored my wife (for Quebec), The application received November 3rd 2011, sent to Ankara Feb 20th 2012, and it was "in Process" since March 8th.
I also applied for GCSM on august 14th but the visa issued before receiving the result

guys what do u think about closure of iranian embassy in canada? i'm sure it will affect on some people like students coming here 2 study but i'm not sure if this decision will affect our files.

It has zero effect on any application, as files already being processed by Ankara anyway. Do not stress yourself out for something non related.

Even for consular services for Iranians in Canada, perhaps Iranian government will open an office in one of embassy (like Pakistan) or ask to send it to US.
