They have prolonged the processing time of first step till 74 days. :-X
We were lucky!

i know!!!!! when i saw it last week i felt so sad :( :( :( i've been around long enough and 1 year ago ppl were approved in less than 30 days!!!! it's hard not to think abt it; but i hope it will decrease back slowly, maybe until 60 days, u never know ;)

Did not she say that if they will inform us about transferring of our files or not?
I think that they will transfer ours to Ankara! :o
Oh God!

actually i will be happy if they split the files and send them to different embassies, it might cause a 3-4 week delay but i think at the end our files will be processed so much faster than the time they were in damascus.
beirut and amman don't do immigration stuff right now as far as i know and ankara has a processing time of 5 months! woohoo! and i don't believe it's like if they transfer our files the new embassy will start working on them from the very beginning! the same work and procedure will be continued but in at least 67% decrease in work load! i'm happy about this news actually!
and i agree with arezoo, i think iranian files will go to ankara, since we don't need a visa for going to turkey ... :)
we haven't had anyone passport requested in january yet, have we? maybe they have started transferring from the beginning of the new year, but they will definitely inform us when they're done i believe.
also i wanna say congratulations to iranians for the golden globe we won last night! woohoo! :D

Hi everyone,

I call the embassy today to ask about the file of my wife. I told her that the file was in process for 13 month now and no news. She told me that for the sponsership files they was all transfer to beirut, omman or ankara embassy. She told me that they start the transfer and by the end of this month all the files will be transfer. I told her that my wife is lebanese so she told me that the file of your wife is or will be in the beiruy embassy.

I ask her about the process time she told me that its max 14 month for sposeship files. Lets hope for good news soon.

hmmmm what abt the Syrians nationals, where will they be transferred :o also, if we wrote on the medical paper (green sheet) one embassy and the file ends in another embassy, what happens to the medicals? hmmm it's good they don't transfer to abu-dhabi - it already has 27 months of waiting, i don't think they need extra :-X

in my opinion , one of us should call to embassy right now... it's time in damascus 15.00 pm ..embassy is open

If the embassy closes in Damascus maybe the Syrian must go to Beirut too.

You guys I'm panicking right now because I have received the following email from the embassy on the 12th:
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. Please send the following documents:

- Take new medical exam. You can visit one of our Designated Medical Doctors to pass medical exam (List attached). Once done, please send us copy of the green medical slip (IMM1017 Medical Report -Section A) either by mail or scanned by email.

All documents, in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by original certified translations into English or French, except the passport.

Please note that if you do not comply with this request within 30 days of the date of this letter, your application for permanent residence in Canada will be assessed on the basis of the information already before the officer. Failure to provide the requested documents could result in the refusal of your application.

Please note: It is your responsibility to ensure that the information you provide our office is accurate and up-to-date. Please inform us immediately if there are any changes to the information or documents you have submitted. If there is a change in your legal status or that of any family member (marriage, birth, death, divorce, etc.) you must notify us before visas are printed.

All correspondence/documents must be sent directly to the Canadian Embassy in Damascus at the address indicated above. DO NOT send or submit any documents to our offices in Amman, Beirut or Tehran. Any correspondence you send to these offices will be returned to you.

Your file is being processed in Damascus. No representations, faxes, telephone calls or correspondence can or will be answered by these Embassies; all inquires must be sent directly to the visa office in Damascus.

Please quote your file number, as well as your telephone & email address on all correspondence and on every document you send to us.

Regards,

Immigration Section / AKH

I know this is a GENERIC email sent to people with almost expired medicals but, I don't think that they would specifically mention that I should send to Syria when files are processed elsewhere. On another note, how can 2 people call the embassy and get absolutely contradicting answers??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would that mean that my file is almost done or irrelevant? Does anyone know how long would it take from now?

dear arezou

please be pragmatic...there is no need to sending any letter ...u can ask sohrab... he knows and he can inform us.

i called to embassy 5 mins ago.. when i tod her ..i heard about transfer our files ..she said ..not at all..

maybe she is kidding me ..lol
