Hi Hissa, my husband never got a number either and it's been almost 7 months, I cannot contact anyone and I dont know if my file is in Ottawa or Syria as of now, it is ridiculous. I feel lost. The only thing that I know is that under the PR status it says received since July and nothing else. Not even in process yet. Hope someone will be able to answer or at least let me know who to contact.

hi everyone,
I have been following all of the news on this site, and Ithink just 2 of us have their files in Ottawa. It's been now almost 7 months for me and never heard a thing from immigration canada. But just a quick queston, if my husband is in Lebanon and I am Canadian living in Canada, is he allowed to apply for the temp visa from Syria, or is it strictly for syrians? Or does anyone have any suggestion? Please advise

Hi Lello- the fast track processing (5 days) is for people IN Syria only but by all mean your husband can apply fir a temp visa in Beirut. the current processing time there is 28 days. it is difficult to get a temp visa because they are worried you won't leave Canada when the visa is expired due to having strong tied to Canada ( your family) but there have been people on this forum that have been approved for temp visa and came to Canada to wait while their PR is approved.

I talked to CIC today. I was told the embassey is functioning normal and if it does close special measures will be put into place to transfer the files..... a delay but atleast they don't sit their indefinitely. Just have to keep praying;)

Good morning every one!
Good morning Damascus!
We passed a very hard week full of up and downs. I hope this week will bring good news to every one!

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie here, but I've been reading your posts for a while now, trying to get as much information as I can to help me through this process. I would appreciate if you can add me to your chart (which btw is amazingly done).

My husband's files arrived in Damascus on August 29th. When I checked the cic website, it said this and also that they were in progress since August 31st. However, a few days later, the statement that the files are in progress disappeared. What's up with that?

Another question, I read that once is the file is in Damasacus, they send the sponsored person an immigration number? If that's the case, we havent' heard anything yet... it's been almost 4 months.

Who/where can I contact to ask about my husband's files? I'm getting worried that it's been 4 months, and we heard nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I look foward to talking with you all! :)

Hi Hissa. Welcome. I added you to chart.
I think that you can not trust so many on e-case. So do not bother your self in this issue.
About file number, we ourselves first received our file number when we sent an email to Damascus and they replied us with our file number. Normally no ones hear nothing from Damascus. Unless you yourself try to correspond with them.

You might want to check your sponsorship approval letter for the visa file number if your sponsorship approval came fairly recently. I believe that these began being included on the sponsorship approval letters addressed to the sponsors by CPC-M beginning in June.

Dear Lello,
Did not you receive the approval letter from Mississauga? I think that in our letter they had mentioned that the file had been transferred to Damascus.

The 5 calendar days is for a TEMPORARY VISA. They are processing those faster to try to help people get out of the country quickly with the proper documentation. I have in the past called CIC about this and was told that if the embassey closes for a long period the files are transferred, if they close for a short period they just sit and wait. I think all of you with spouses in Syria should apply asap for a visitor visa, it sounds like due to the situation they will help get spouses of citizens out quickly (process the visitor visa in 5 days) Rams even if you were denied before i think u should reapply, the situation is different now and I think that influences them to approve more. My thoughts and prayers to all of you with spouses in Syria. stay strong!

hi dear Ramz
yeah me too i think u should apply for visit visa for him again!!!!! make a cover letter, stating the current situation in Syria and also write somewhere that they should consider "humanitarian and compassionate grounds"; in normal situations they might reject the visa like they did before but this is not a normal situation so it's worth to try i think; also, make sure u write that u do have a sponsorship application in process, since when, maybe give them a copy of ur sponsor approval letter (they see u r in process for some time, maybe some of the checks are done already); stay strong!!!!!!

good luck everyone, Arezou, i really like ur quote :)
