I hope you'll have lesser time of processing, in sha'a ALLAH.
Regarding the background check, I can tell you surely it will be different now; because it happened with me. When I got my first visitor visa, the background check had taken only TEN DAYS, but with the PR visa, the background check took almost ONE YEAR!
The best thing with your process is you've got a visitor visa, that could help you both be together.

hey nagz .. u meant if she has one thing of them as proof she will settle in canada.. or she should have job ..lease agreemant ..money ..ect...??
