Current passport will expire while PR app is being processed

I'm hoping to submit my application for Permanent Residence ASAP, but my current American passport is set to expire over the summer. I'm renewing the passport, but the new one won't be ready for another month or so.

Should I wait until I get my new passport to submit my PR app? I'd hate to lose a month of processing time but I'm not sure what the requirements for passport validity are.

Send your application now (or when it's ready) and then when they send you the PPR, send them a copy of the new passport.

Of course, if you're in a hurry, you can always get a passport renewed more quickly (my last two times I've done it via a service in a single day.)
