Dear all,
I'm a canadian myself sponsoring my husband to become a PR in Canada. We've decided to do it outland. Now I'm working on the forms but not clear on a few quetions. So here is the situation:
My husband is a citizen of Taiwan which is one of those visa exempt countries. So he came to visit me in this past July and planned to stay for six months, which means he will leave Canada and go back to Taiwan by the end of 2012. We plan on sending the applications out in Octobor while he's still here with me. So my questions are the following:

1.As to "current country of residence", should he put down "Taiwan" or "Canada"? I mean, by the time my sponsorship gets approved, he's probably in Taiwan already. But right at the time of filling out the forms he is physically in Canada. So kinda a tricky question.

2. If " Taiwan" is the one to put down, as to the question" Are you currently living with your sponsor?, should he answer "Yes" or "No"? I mean, it's the same scenario. He's with me now, but is it considered "living", since he is just visiting for six months?

We are so confused. Any quidence would be greatly appreciated.

He's a resident of Taiwan... He is not living with you he is visiting you.

Put 'Taiwan' as his country of residence. You can state 'yes' to the question "Are you currently living with your sponsor?" But you must then attach an explanation to this form. Explain that his country of residence is Taiwan, but he has been visiting you in Canada and living with you for 6 months. You can put the dates you started living together, and the date he is expected to go back to Taiwan. Attach any proof you have that you two are staying together. You should definitely be very clear that you two are living together, because it is good proof the relationship is genuine.

If you decide to answer 'no' to the question "Are you currently living with your sponsor?" because he is just visiting, you must then definitely attach an explanation stating that you two are staying together, giving the dates and any proof. Personally, I would answer 'yes'. Either choice needs further explanation: the visa officer must be clear that he is visiting Canada for 6 months and during that time is staying with you.

We had this discussion before, when I first joined the board... the reason you apply for PR Visa is so that you can "Live" in Canada, in other words the PR visa is what gives you the right to live in Canada legally. A Visitor's Visa gives you the right to visit for up to 6 months. So technically if you check yes then you are admitting to a crime. It is obvious why you are not living together.... (the PR visa) I offered no other explanation.
