Cumulative years of experience

hi,
I am working with LMIA for last 2.5 years. And applied for PR with the score of 449. Planning to take IELTS again to boost up my score. Meanwhile have a question, how long I can work inside Canada as a foreign worker.

I guess 5 years is the limit after which you need to get a PR. I don't remember the source from where I read it and maybe the source was not accurate.
