Hi everyone!
I am planning to apply for PR through EE and have a question in regards to relatives in Canada. My wife`s mother has married for the 2nd time and her husband`s brother is a Canadian citizen (let`s call him John). If my understanding is correct John became my wife`s uncle and this can add extra points to CRS, is my understanding correct or no, please advise. Thanks

So, if I'm in Canada with my wife and we have a baby in Canada. When I'm applying for Express Entry I will get 15 points because of the newborn?

Why would you?

Relatives in Canada
You, or if it applies, your spouse or common-law partner, have a relative:

  • living in Canada
  • 18 years or older and
  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
This relative must be a:

  • parent
  • grandparent
  • child
  • grandchild
  • child of a parent (sibling)
  • child of a grandparent (aunt or uncle)
  • grandchild of a parent (niece or nephew)
And

Note: We’ve made some changes to the Express Entry system:

  • you can now get 15 additional points for at least one sibling (brother or sister) living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident if they:
    • are 18 years old or older
    • are related to you by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption
    • have a parent in common with you

Hi all,

I have a similar question. My situation is my nephew and niece are canada citizens (they have immigrated to Canada long time ago), however their relationship with me is as follows:

their grandfather is my mother's younger brother

so, could they help me in adding marks to the FSW scheme?

Thank you very much.

They are your cousins, not niece and nephew.

No. Again, CRS points are only awarded for siblings.
