Will I be awarded points under the Adaptability Factor since I have my first cousin (my mom's sister's daughter) and her family as Canadian citizens.

I know in the relative's list it does not mention cousins, but does mention niece and nephew! So, would my cousin's children (my niece and nephew), qualify as my "close relatives"???

Anyone's gotten points under the Adaptability Factor for cousins??

I think NO. :(((

WHO ARE THE ACCEPTABLE RELATIVES?
Proof of relationship showing u, or your accompanying spouse/common-law partner has a close relative who lives in Canada and is a Canadian Citizen or PR. This close relative can be:

• parent, grandparent,
• child, grandchild,
• brother, sister,
• aunt, uncle, or
• niece, nephew.

Yes! I understand,...but would my cousin's kids (my niece and nephew) fall into this close relative category??
If aunt and uncle qualify as close relatives, I would assume cousins would too.... Please comment?

Thanks

Family in Canada (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, niece, nephew, child or grandchild, spouse or common-law partner who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives-apply-who.asp

niece, nephew: Nephew is a term referring to the son of one's sibling or spouse's sibling, and niece to the daughter of one's sibling or spouse's sibling. Sons and daughters of siblings-in-law are also informally referred to as nephews and nieces respectively, even though there is no blood relation. The word nephew is derived from the French word neveu.

I don't know will it help, I found this. So maybe you will decide.

there is some age restriction for that....i mean your niece should be adult....point of adaptablity is that...they should be able to support u....how can kids going to support you...and niece should also be daughter of your real siblings not your cousin's daughters

i think u understand my point.... u will not able to get points on the basis of your cousin as well his daughters or sons

@ sbo

Sorry buddy, u can't claim points for them . SIMPLE THUMB RULE- U CAN ONLY GET POINTS FOR THE RELATIVE WHO IS FIRST BLOOD RELATION OF UR PARENTS/SIBLINGS and in other case if ur Canadian then the direct first blood relation of ur parent/siblings can also get points because of ur citizenship/PR status, like

Brother-sisters (u can get points for them, or they can claim points 4 u, siblings/kids of ur parents)
Grandma-pa ( u can get points for them, r they can claim points 4 u,father mother of ur parents)
UNCLE AUNT ( u can get points for them, real siblings of ur parents)
Nephew niece (ur real uncle/aunt can get points for ur Canadian PR/Citizenship, cuz they are in first blood relation to ur parents)

I hope it will help

i dont think cousin's children can give points under adaptability.

No you will not

You get points only for kids of your or your wife's brother and sister not cousins' kids

Thank you all!

My mother's sisters and son of my Mother's brother live in canada and are in jobs. Would it be considered under adaptability ?

For Express Entry - no. Only siblings (brother & sister) give you points.
