Just wondering whether I have legal status just after landing but waiting for the PR card. Could I use the landing document to renew the SIN card and apply for a new job? Do I have legal status by then if my previous work permit already expires? Many thanks.

You have legal status the minute they stamp your landing papers. PR card is just a token formality.
