Hi All,

Hoping to emigrate from UK to Canada, specifically interested in Toronto.

Been looking at applying as a skilled worker but this is first time trying anything like this and finding it all a bit confusing. Was hoping that if I described my situation here someone might be able to advise me one if I might be able to get through as skilled and if not if I'd have any other options?

Basically I'm a 29yo software engineer, with a 3 year Computer Science Degree and can speak fairly competent french. No job offer at the moment obviously but I could perhaps get one if necessary.

What would be my best course of action?

Thanks!

Josh

There are currently no IT jobs on the occupation list for the Federal Skilled Worker program.

Given you want to live in Toronto, your best course of action is to secure a job offer first - and then apply to the Federal Skilled Worker program as an application with a job offer in Canada.

OK that sounds doable, any idea how an application with a job offer takes to go through? I imagine a company would want to know how long it would take me to get there before offering me a job.

Thanks :)

Also, does anyone know if a company would be allowed to give me an offer based on skills that would already be available in Canada?

I do have some skills that could be argued would be hard to come by in Canada, but would limit my options in terms of companies...
