Copr process

I have finally received the golden email to submit the passport in Ottawa for copr. However I have a few questions

1. Is it possible to physically go and submit the passport and get the copr letter (as I live in Canada) rather than courier as I am a trucker and need to cross border for work. Dont want to sit home for 10 days and loose out on money

2) will it be a problem if I cross the border befor submitting the passport for copr

Any information would be helpful
