Cook/Chef experience with no certificate or education for CEC?

Hi everyone,
I worked in a sushi restaurant as a part-time sushi chef. Now I need to include that to my CEC profile.
The problem is I did not have any certificate to be a chef or any experience before that and according to NOC descriptions:

Employment requirements

• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Cook's trade certification, which is available in all provinces and territories, or equivalent credentials, training and experience, are required.
• Executive chefs usually require management training and several years of experience in commercial food preparation, including two years in a supervisory capacity
  and
  Experience as a sous-chef, specialist chef or chef.
• Sous-chefs, specialist chefs and chefs usually require several years of experience in commercial food preparation.
• Red Seal endorsement for cooks is also available to qualified chefs upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.
• Chef de cuisine certification, administered by the Canadian Culinary Institute of the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks (CFCC), is available to qualified chefs.

Hard to say, but the fact that the NOC description states:

"Cook's trade certification, which is available in all provinces and territories, or equivalent credentials, training and experience, are required."
,specially the last part where it clearly states provincial/territorial certification is required.

If you look at the description of 6322, you might be able to align that with your experience, it is fairly similar but with the key difference that trade certification is not mandatory but voluntary and align your employers letter of reference accordingly.

That should be the least risky approach for you. At the end, they're pretty much the same.

Do you have any sort of studies in the field? Otherwise I am having a hard time figuring out how will you meet the minimum CRS score?

Well I think if this NOC requires that then nobody is able to work in a normal Japanese restaurant. The owners would rather hire fresh person then train them themselves instead of asking for certification or credentials

  Completion of college or other program in cooking
  or
  Several years of commercial cooking experience are required.
• Trade certification is available, but voluntary, in all provinces and territories.
• Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified cooks upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.

I got your point that trade certs are optional but it also require apprenticeship, completion of college or several years of commercial cooking experience.

I'm depressed now. I think I didn't need the requirement of neither NOC 6321 nor 6322

I have Canadian diploma plus oversea degree, along with my IELTS score. I got around 445 CRS score IF THEY ACCEPT MY EXPERIENCE AT THE SUSHI RESTAURANT

NOC 2011 version states:

meanwhile NOC 2016 verstion states:

• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks
  or
  Completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety
  or
  Several years of commercial cooking experience may be required.
• Trade certification is available, but voluntary, in all provinces and territories.
• Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified cooks upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.

Also according to IRCC:

We assess jobs against the 2016 version of the NOC.

So I think I can definitely go with 6322 while I don't have any experience before, and no any education either. I would enclose a letter of explanation to describe the exact situation of my employment at the restaurant. I believe they would accept my experience

That's certainly good news. For the least it will be worth to at least give it a shot.

Also, your 445 score will give you chances to get an ITA specially it the numbers of invitations increases as its expected to. Also, you may end up being in the pool for a while before you get your invitation so this will give you time to prepare everything you need.

hi everyone i worked as a chef in toronto while i was studying and then i moved to novascotia and work as a line cook . And as i heard for AIP we can use out study time experience i put that and remaining experience i made here working more than 6 months . i have applied my endorsement . is it risk to use that experience as my job duties are same but noc code of chef and cook are different that i get to know later .
