Contacting MP/ difficult vs straight forward application

Hi, I have a couple questions
1. Is it difficult to contact your MP? And if so how is the best way? What was asked of the MP to help your case?
2. What would be considered a straight forward case vs a difficult case? For example my husband the applicant has lived in many countires and needed to have many police checks done. And everything had to be translated. Will this add significant processing time, or is this considered normal?

1. MPs can't influence your case or speed up processing. The right time to contact an MP is if the application has taken longer to process than the stated processing time on the CIC web site. They can then make inquiries on your behalf to see why your application is taking longer than the posted processing time to review.
2. There are many many different elements that can complicate a case. Living in a numer of different countries could potentially increase processing times since CIC would have to conduct background checks covering a number of countries. Having said that, my husband had lived in 5 different countries and our processing time was short. So it's really hard to say.

It depends on the countries, specifically their relationship with Canada, if they have any agreements in regards to information sharing and how easily the information is accessed. For example, getting information from the US is easy for CIC because they have so many agreements about sharing data (IMHO maybe too much). Same goes for the UK, etc. Other countries, it is harder like Russia or Pakistan (information is not easily accessible), etc.

I have heard of people contacting their MP really early in the application process to check for any updates is this true? Is it even worth the time?
Has anyone ordered notes? Can it be done online or by mail only?

Not worth the time (some won't even enquire until you're over in processing time). Better to order your notes (you can do this online).

I wouldn't get busy with the MP unless your wait time is longer than posted. You may need them in the future.
