Hello, I'm applying for family class sponsorship. I first sent one in July then again on September because it was missing some forms. I am really worried as my fiancee and I have not heard anything back from immigration. My fiancee keeps trying to call the number but it's automated and asKS for a application number. I do not have one yet.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of them other than being in Canada? I am kinda at a loss on what to do and I think my medical isn't going to work anymore. It's almost been a year sense the last physical.

I believe the sponsor can ask their MP to contact CIC on their behalf, and CIC is obligated to respond more promptly to the MP's request.

at this point, only the sponsor can call cic (or their MP). you don't actually need the file number to talk to an agent, they can look up the information by your name, and let you know if anything's been done on the file yet. to get to the agent, you have to go through the prompts, then i believe dial 0 to get an agent. i would tell your fiance to ignore the info about the file number and just keep pressing 0 or other numbers until he gets a hold of a person. it is possible to do without a file number.

Alright thank you. What's the mp?
It's either short for Muppet, or...Member of Parliament. ;D

Or...could be one in the same!

He tried the mashing 0 but it didn't seem to work. Is thereally a different number to call for cic or a email I can try to get ahold of them with?

Hi there, I was browsing through the forum and I came across this,

the 1800 number can only be reached from Canada but you can call 1-613-944-4000.
This is the global Canadian trade commission's umbrella number(foreign trade, immigration etc); once you call that number hit 1 twice to be transferred to immigration. The call gets routed to the 1800 number, from there follow the your usual process to reach an agent.

My tip, its best to call at 8AM local time and hit 2-1-1-0 to reach an agent after you have to routed to immigration.

I think since its a Canadian phone number with an area code you can call it from outside of Canada.

Hope this helps

I will be sure to try that as my fiance has tried for awhile. We are planning on getting married in June but we don't know what is going on with P.R. right now.
