Hi!
I am a Permanent Resident living in Vancouver and I am still waiting for my PR card. I need to leave Canada but my flight has a connection in Toronto. Will I have problems with this connection because I don’t have my PR card with me? I know the procedures to return to Canada, my only question is about this stop inside Canada..
Thanks!

No - you won't have issues. Go ahead and leave Canada.

Thanks! I was concerned because I found this information at the government website:
Permanent residents need a PR card or travel document to travel to Canada
Permanent residents (PR) of Canada need a valid PR card when:

  • travelling to Canada by public transit (plane, train, bus or boat)
  • transiting through a Canadian airport
Link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/permanent-residents.html

So I thought the second item applies to my situation

You're not traveling to Canada or transiting through Canada. This can only be done if your travel starts outside of Canada. You are exiting Canada.

There is no immigration check when traveling within Canada.

You'll need a PR card or PRTD when you need to return into Canada.
