Confusion between NOC 2173 and 2174, Dont know which to apply for?

I am confused as some of my job responsibilities overlap with both the NOC 2173 and 2174. I have total of 4.4 years of experience.

My current designation is Software Engineer at company 1 since Dec 2011 (2.8 years).
previously
Programmer at company 2 from Sep 2010 to Dec 2011 (1.3 years )
Programmer at company 3 Aug 2009 to Jan 2010 (5 months )

I have several doubts

-->Could you please advice under which NOC I need to apply as my roles and responsibilities NOC 2173 dominant across all the jobs and positions held.
-->Would it be a problem applying to NOC 2173 since my designations previously held were "Programmer"?
--> Or NOC 2174 a safer bet?

2173 looks like your fit as you said the duties are the best match.

Designation/Job Titles do not matter.

My company has a fixed format for giving the experience letter, which basically includes Name, Designation and Date of join. So I am going to request a senior colleague to give me a reference, which states all the roles and responsibilities which I will then get notarized.

Yes. It will. Besides, its the next option you have since your company's LOR won't state your duties.

• Develop data models, entity relationship diagrams, and plans.
• Interacting with clients and company management to gather and assess client requirements.
• Hands on experience on technologies – Core Java,J2EE, Apex, Visualforce, Android SDK, HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript and version control tools like CVS, Tortoise SVN and migration tools like Salesforce Data Loader and Force.com Migration tool.
• Technical training and onboarding of new team members and others in project.
• Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting possible faults in the application within testing procedures and quality standards to ensure system perform to specification.
• Project Development and enhancements incorporating Agile methodologies.
• Provide support for quality assurance testing and defect resolution and to ensure adherence to CMMi level 3 standards.


Also need some suggestion if anything else needs to be added or so that I can request my manager to make the changes accordingly.

Have you matched it with NOC 2174 and/or NOC 2173 ? What is your analysis ?

I feel it tilts more towards NOC 2174. Please provide your inputs?

If you feel it is 2174 - go for it. But you cannot afford too much of a delay since this NOC is running away with the CAP.

You can also try to match your skills with 2173. If you think it fits you as well then this could also be an option since it is less competitive than 2174.

First question - does your present and/or past duties match with the duties in 2173 ?
