Confusion arround working hours for express entry

Hello,

I've recently received a job offer from Canada and I'm thinking about applying for the Express Entry program. However, I'm a bit confused about whether I meet the eligibility criteria for it or not. Could you guys help me out?

Here are some details you might find relevant:

• I started my computer engineering degree in 09.2017 and completed it in 09.2022.
• I began with a part-time job in 09.2021 and transitioned to full-time employment with the same company in 07.2023.

I have a couple of questions on my mind:

• Firstly, when it comes to the Express Entry program, will they consider my part-time work experience while I was a student (outside of Canada)? (See https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=394&top=29)
• I've heard that part-time work of around 15 hours a week is usually counted, but anything above 30 hours isn't. However, even though I can prove that I worked for 30 hours a week, will this cause any issues with immigration?

Let me clear some things up for you.
1) Any work done while your legal status in Canada was a student, it does not count towards any PR application stream. It doesn't matter if you did 15hrs or 20hrs, you need a work permit for the work hrs to count.

2) Part time hrs do count towards CEC EE. However, they only start counting at the time you submitted an application for your PGWP. So all the hrs before 09.2022 does not count towards CEC. Additionally, depending on when you applied for the work permit those hrs in September 2022 and after may not count as well.

3) You did not mention that you applied for a work permit or even entered Canada to complete studies. Any work experience done outside of Canada is considered foreign work experience. Plus you must have a minimum 1yr of full time hrs for the foreign work experience to count on EE. Again if your legal status was student, albeit outside of Canada, those hours may not count.

Based on my explanation, you have far less qualifying hours than you think. Do a recalculation based on when you applied for the PGWP and if foreign work experience is less than 1yr, you won't get any points for it.
