Hi guys
I will be applying for PGWP at the end of this year. My question is will i still be able to take courses when on PGWP. If not, then what if i get AIP?

Is that a 'spousal application (inland)' you got going there? If yes, did you also include an application for an OWP? Your 'open work permit' should be granted upon AIP.

Yes it is inland. But, the thing is i want to continue my studies after applying for Post graduation work permit which apparently is not allowed. According to processing times for stage 1 i will be eligible for OWP and PGWP at the same time(approx.) If i am correct after stage 1 approval i can study as well as work?

If the answer is yes to my last question then i have two options:
1. Apply for OWP take courses and work at the same time which is usually issued for 1 or 2 years. In case my application gets refused at a later stage i will have to go back or stay on implied status.
2. apply for PGWP get it for 3 years but can't take courses then.

Also, is it possible to hold both open work permits?

Stage 1 approval and an Open Work Permit doesn't remove the requirement for a study permit.

If the course is longer than 6 months, you will need a study permit. If it is shorter than 6 months, then you do not need a study permit.

Yes, i understand that i need study permit. But, i read that if you apply for PGWP your study permit is not valid anymore. That's why i was debating if applying for OWP after stage 1 approval is a better choice since I can extend my study permit that way OR apply for PGWP instead and have 3 years guaranteed permission to work.

Unfortunately, you cannot hold either of those work permits at the same time as a study permit. You must choose between being a student or a worker. If you choose to study and you haven't received your PR yet after 6 months of studying, you could apply for an off campus work permit.

ok thnx i got it....i will apply for my PGWP and work full time then!
