Confused on Medical

Hi everyone, I am so confused about the medical for my wife's sponsorship. We are doing an outland application for her. She is from the Philippines but currently in Thailand.

#1 Is it required under the Family Class to have the upfront medical? (I know its recommended)
Spoke with CIC a few times and I get different responses from different agents. I find their website confusing on this matter as well (There are two ways you can have an immigration medical exam, depending on your immigration category)

#2 My wife did call BNH in Bangkok and they told her that she needs IMM form from CIC ..How can we get this form when we have not submitted the application yet?

#3 Any idea on the current price in Baht for the medical? (BNH representative was not even sure herself 5000 to 6000 bht.

there is an old way and a new way for doctors to process medicals. The old way is for the applicant to bring an IMM form for the doctor to fill out. The new way involves an online system called "eMedical". This requires the doctor to input the information into a computer, and print out a receipt that has a barcode on it along with the applicant's information. Not all doctors are up to date on this new system, so i believe both are acceptable by CIC.

My suggestion would be to check out the panel doctor list in your wife's country to see if there is more than 1 she can make an appointment with, and ask them specifically if they use the "emedical" system. REmember, only panel doctors approved by canadian immigration can process the exam. Good luck!

Yes and they have several Panel doctors at BNH thats how I found them through CIC website...

(from BNH to my wife) " told that if u email the imig to ask for the form they wil give u number"

I asked my wife to call back and find out if they use emedical. If they dont and my wife still chooses to use their services where can this number be received from? Or is this number only available after doing the submission with out medical included.

my guess is the number they are referring to is the CIC call center. I'm not sure how helpful they will be. The call center only accepts calls from within canada, so only you can call them, not your wife. You can find the number by searching this forum i'm sure. I would also suggest searching the CIC website. Perhaps putting the form number in the search box will pull up a copy, otherwise i'm sure other members will tell you how to find it.

BNH is a good hospital to do the medicals, and is close to the BTS. It cost us about 4,000 baht and they use eMedical

When they are done, they will give you your results within an hour or so after the tests, and give you a page to include with your application.

NOTE: You do NOT need a file or UCI number for your initial medicals - you print out the needed form (from your application kit), fill it out and bring with you - they will do the rest for you.

Yes I already know the number for CIC's call center, I have called them a few times in the past, received conflicting information too before.

I called them this morning while I was also talking with my wife, Immigration does not use the paper documents anymore according to the agent, "The Panel doctor should be using emedical and the instructions are in their immigration medical handbook".

I have given the doctors names that are the approved Panel doctors at BNH to my wife, She will be calling again to inquire, I asked her this time to be sure the inquiry is only about one of those 3 doctors and to be sure to let them know its for an "upfront immigration medical for spousal sponsorship to Canada."
hopefully she receives the proper information this time.

We have to wait till July for the medical when she has some time off from work to travel to Bangkok to have it done.

I made an appointment with the centre, paid the fee over the phone then they told to bring some photos and a passport. So I did - then they took my details have me the medical and issued me with UMI number and a printout of the form that I would need to include within my application - they called this the up-front medical. They said that they would upload the results directly to CIC within a fortnight of my medical examination. A friend of mine who is going to Vanc did the same.

This is the same BNC in BKK does, and costs 4000 baht.

My wife has since called back again to BNH and she should going to bkk in a few weeks time to have it completed.
