Confused between - Alberta or Federal Skilled?

Hi,

So I am confused which program should I apply with ... the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (H1 category) or should I just apply with the Federal Skilled Program ... NOC 0213 ...

I need your suggestions ... I have over 3 years of Manager/Lead experience in Software development. And with that I have about 69 points ... So the first question is how does the PR process evaluate my experience as per NOC code I list? Do they ask for reference letters, any other proof? My concern is my employer may not give a list of responsibilities that match exactly what NOC list says ... Even though I have solid 3+ years (~ 4 yrs) experience of leading and managing software teams ...

Should I just apply as a software engineer under AINP instead? Isn't this process longer?

I doubt there is any real difference in timelines between AINP and FSW. The FSW is under new rules, they said they aim for 6-12 months but when and if they will make it remains to be seen. It might be easier to qualify for AINP if there is any question about points or NOC code for FSW but if you really are a manager 0213, it shouldn't be a problem.

If you are on H1B visa in the US, you may qualify for the AINP H1B program without a job offer. If not, you will need a job offer (AEO) from an Alberta employer to apply. You can also apply for BC PNP with a job offer from BC and same with some other Provincial nominee programs.

To get a job offer from an Alberta employer, you need to somehow find an employer in Alberta who wants to hire you. This is not necessarily easy.

As for Government jobs, it's highly unlikely to get one without being a citizen or PR. Government jobs are very sought after in Canada because of security and good benefits.
