Hello,

I’m a bit confused about my work experience. I have a one year paid internship in one company (not a student internship). And then in this new company, it’s a paid entry level job.

I’ve only worked here for about a few months full time (35 to 40 hrs/week) but the company started having financial difficulties due to the covid19 and all that so most of the staff including me were told to stay home and only come when called... the salaries were also slashed considerably. It’s been another three months or so of these unstable working hours and cut pay for me at this company, and I’m not sure how soon they plan on reverting back to the normal hours and pay.

My confusion comes with how I may represent this particular situation when applying for express entry in the future.

I also plan on studying in Canada and I understand there’s the CEC option (after at least a year working in Canada). I’m just worried about my points for foreign work experience should the time come, I’d just like claim as much points as possible and follow the fastest route available for me (ie: if I can qualify for the FSW instead of waiting to qualify for CEC, that’d be great).

I’m already working on getting an admission to a university for Fall next year but depending on when all that is sorted out, I’d have to keep working. Ideally, I’d have love to have one more year of foreign work experience before then but now I’m not so sure that’ll be possible...

I’d appreciate honest advice on the best course of action and what my options are till I start my study program. Thanks.
