Hi everyone,
Finally I collected all of my papers for spouse sponsoring and I would like to send them ... right now :) But Im confused about the fees - I think it's a new thing, and it changed with the new application forms. I understand that the fee is for Principal Applicant is $550 and for the spouse (or common-law partner) is $550. What should I do with the Right of Permanent Residence Fee - which is $490. (They STRONGLY recommend pay this fee although it should be request just at the end of the process when they application is approved.) Is it really worth to pay everything together?

The principal applicant is your spouse/common-law partner if you are only sponsoring that person.

Yes tikestba, pay everything together like what CharlieD said..
Sponsor - 75
Principal applicant - 475
RPRF - 490

this may help make your processing time shorter (CIC don't have to send you a letter/correspondence asking u to pay the RPRF...which in some cases letters via snail mail gets delayed in delivery). I had friends who paid RPRF after the medical req (MR) and it took an extra 2 months for their application to get new updates.

Thank you guys, this is what I thought. But we were filling the new form out and we just checked the instruction guide again about the fees and it says (just me and my husband, no dependents):
Principal Applicant $550 / 1 person
Spouse or Common-law partner $550 / 1 person
Dependent child who is 22 years of age or older $550 / 1 person
Dependent child under 22 years of age $150 / 1 person

Plus the Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490 / 1 person

You could find it here:

cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289E5.asp

So probably they were increasing the fees but I'm not too sure should we pay the RPRF right now - at the beginning of the whole procedure - or should we wait...

ok, probably im blonde:) the 75 is for the sponsor, and the 475 is for the applicant, so this will be the $550 together. I got it!!!!:))) thanks again guys!!!!!
And we will pay the RPRF too, who wants to wait another 2 months... :( :)
