Good day Tax experts.

Here is my story. I am a permanent resident of canada. I am in a relationship for my same sex partner since 2010. She is in the Philippines right now. We became conjugal on year 2017. I came here in Canada year 2013 and since then I applied as single in my tax returns, but on January 2018 I changed my status to CRA as common-law. The reason of this is I talked to an agent online from CRA and asked her what supposed to be my status. She told me that even though we are not living together but sharing everything and treating each other as conjugal so my status is common-law. Is it right or we just misunderstood each other? Any insights regarding will be highly appreciated.
