Right-oh! That covers that off. No panic, the citizenship is inevitable just like PR was. We'll just wait out the full four years.

I know this thread hasn't had much action, but i'll try my chances.

I know someone who got married in July 2012, outland spousal application was submitted Nov 2012
the she landed as a PR in Nov 2014 the copr had condition 51 (Ended Nov 2016)
in Feb 2016 Sponsored person moved to a different province (separating from her sponsor). changing her information, ids, address etc.

How will this effect her when applying for citizenship a few years from now?
Any consequences?

Ethically, it doesn't look good that she separated from her sponsor....but if the sponsor is not attempting to have her deported back home, then it shouldn't affect anything and they'll see it as a failing marriage, not a scam or marriage of opportunity. If that's the case, where the sponsor is in agreement with the sponsoree leaving him, then there are no consequences and she is free to apply for citizen ship in 4 more years (you must be in Canada for 6 years). However, if she has fled from her sponsor and they have filed a complaint and she simply couldn't be found because she is in hiding, then when she goes to apply, she may have to face the consequences at that time.

I am not at all implying that this person abused the system, I'm just trying to give you views from all angles! Overall, it's not an issue if she's not still with her sponser, as long as the sponsor has not filed any complaints.... :)

Can someone please let me know how to find out if you have a condition 51 on your PR application? My partner and I have been approved to immigrate to canada without having an interview or anything.
Thank you

You get conditional 51 on your PR if you are married or common law less than 2 years and no children together at the time of submitting PR application.

If you are married longer than 2 years or have children together, conditional 51 won't apply to you.

when you get the COPR, there will be a section that says "conditions". if it says "51", then you have the condition. if you meet the criteria mentioned above, then the condition shouldn't be there.

It has been known for this condition to have been incorrectly applied to an application, where the applicant clearly doesn't meet the criteria. It happened to me, for example. In that case, you need to raise an "Urgent" CSE to get it corrected and the COPR reissued.

Can someone answer my question, not that Condition 51 matters to my husband and me, just curious.
We have been married for more than 2 years now, my sponsorship application is in process. When we applied we had been married for 6 months and we don't have kids. Will I have conditional PR?

yes, presumably it would apply to you. to be exempt from condition 51, you would need to have been married for 2 years PRIOR to sending in the application, so if "condition 51" is still valid by the time you're approved, you will most likely have it listed on your approval. there is speculation that the condition is being dropped, however nothing "official" has been reported yet and IRCC is still applying the condition to applications.

This is alarming me, I'm in the process of applying to sponsor my spouse from outside of Canada. We dated for about a year before we got married, and we have lived together outside of Canada for 2 months so far. Now I'm really worried if this condition 51 will apply to me...
there is nothing alarming about the condition. all it means is you have to live together for 2 years after the PR lands. this is not an issue for most couples.

how long have you been married BEFORE you intend to send in your application? if it is less than 2 years and you do not have children before applying, then the condition will apply to you - assuming the condition is still valid when your application is approved.

It most likely will.

I don't understand, so what you're saying is CIC prefers people to be married for 2 years prior to sending an application? If this condition applies to me will it jeopardize my application?
No, it's a post-landing condition, not an application condition.
