Dear wonderful everyone,
I have entered in Toronto, Canada since Aug 2011 with work permit and got my PR in Apr 2014.
left Canada from May 2014 and returned to Toronto at September 1 2015. Since then I am in Toronto. I have been paying my tax every year event the year I was not in Toronto ( May 2014- August 2015).

Can I apply citizenship now?

thanks in advance.

No. At the present time (until the C-6 changes take effect), you need four years of physical presence out of the last six. You cannot count time before you were a PR. You currently have less than two years of physical presence in Canada.

You can use the physical presence calculator located here https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/resCalcStartNew.do to see if you will qualify in December. It will allow you to put in exact dates and information and give you a direct calculation. Currently, it still says you require 1460 days of physical presence in Canada to apply, but this will at least give you an idea of how many days you would have and you'll know if you'll have enough to apply after they change the requirements back to 1095 days.

After the C-6 changes take effect, you will need 3 years in the last 4, and you will be able to count time before PR using this formula: 1/2 day credit for each day up to a total credit of one year. So, none of 2013 will count and you will still be short at the end of December 2017.

As Alurra71 wrote, use the online calculator.

With the new C-6 law, it is rather 3/5 not 3/4.

My mistake. Yes, 3 out of 5. However, it is still true that days before PR can only be counted as half-days up to a maximum of 1 year.
