My husband lives in Canada and I am here in the Philippines...anybody knows of anything we can download in our phones so we can text each other for free? I dont always have wifi. Thanks for your any helpful suggestion.

If you have data plan you can use whatsapp, viber.
If you dont have data plan you can buy text wise card or what i use before globe has a promo 30php 100 text international. good for 1 day.

Some providers in Canada have unlimited international texts, anywhere in the world - that would take care of it from his side, I'm not sure what could work from the Philippines.

If you don't have a smartphone, you can use web based yahoo messenger to text to your husband through your internet browser, or you can use http://www.24sms.net/ to text anywhere in the world for free. 24sms also has an android app, of course you will need the internet.

If you have a data plan and a smartphone, you can get free local Canadian phone number, http://www.Fongo.ca

Skype is probably best, does both video and text
