Hi There,

My fiance and I have been together since June 28, 2009 (so it will be 4 years this June). On the form we have to declare we have cohabited in a conjugal relationship for X continuous years. We will be submitting our application before June so should we just state '3 years'?

Also the from and to dates, obviously 2009/6/28 for 'from' but what do I put in for 'to' seeing as we are obviously still together.

We are also getting married in October, should we note this anywhere?

Thanks for your help :)

'To' = enter date you completed the form. But when you print the form, draw a neat line across the date and write "present". Does not hurt to include when you are getting married(on separate sheet of paper), but be sure to have adequate evidence of your common-law relationship.

We started living together in November 2009 and have not been apart since then. So do we put November for when we started our relationship rather than June?

We have rental leases with both our names from NOV 2010-APR 2011 and then from AUG 2012-till present. We don't have leases for the other times (NOV 2009-OCT 2010 and MAY 2011-JUL 2012) although we did live together. On the 'Schedule A' form it shows that we have lived at the same addresses.

We owned two cars together in Canada but would need to request the paperwork from ICBC in Canada, do you think we should or are the rental leases enough along with the below?

Our Canadian working visas are for the exact same dates and we entered and departed the country at the same time.

We got engaged in MAY 2012 and are planning our wedding for OCT 2013.

We also have a 3month old baby, should I include a birth certificate? Although there will be a copy of it in the dependant section?

Is it best if we write a summary of our relationship?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. It's funny that we have nearly been together for 4 years and shared everything but hard to prove at the same time without adequate paperwork.

Thanks

Ye-es... They don't care about the time you were dating, that is not a legal status.

I am not sure what form/question you are asking about. The date that you became common-law partners is 1 year after the date that you began continuously cohabitating.

As for all the other stuff.. "proof..." Are you applying under the CEC class? Because, if so, none of that is required. Do not get confused with the Family Class application, CEC is different. You need to complete the affidavit but other than that, just provide what is on the checklist.

This is exactly what I did to my application forms...
this practice is acceptable to some other forms/fields as well whereever you found the options provided from the E-form are not 100% describing your own case...

I am referring to the 'from' date on the stat dec common law form which states when we cohabited our relationship.

We started dating in June 2009 and have been living together since November 2009. Do I write NOV 2009 or NOV 2010?? I'm confused now :)

We are applying under Canadian Experience Class, I just thought the more information we had the better.

Thanks for all your advice.

Ok, THAT form :) Per the form, the date you started co-habitating (living together).
