I'm applying to PR through my common-law boyfriend. The 4th question on form 1344 asks if he (the sponsor) resides in Canada and in no other country.
Since February 2023, he has been pursuing his PhD abroad. He travels back and forth as needed for in-person commitments there, while the rest of the time, he resides in Montreal, where he works part-time.
Would this be considered as if he is living in both countries? Or since he spends most of the time in Canada (more than half the year each year), can it be considered as if he resides only in Canada?
Thank you.

if he maintains his resident in Montreal, he can answer "yes" to that question since the travel is only short and temporary (i suppose)

He is no longer your boyfriend! He is your common-law partner. :)

As far as I know: If he is registered in both countries, he officially resides in the country in which he lives for more than half (min 183 days) of the year.
:)
