Hi everyone,
I, the principial applicant, am trying to apply for PR under common-law class, with my girlfriend being the sponsor. I came to Canada to study at U of T and right now I am on a post-graduate-work-permit now which will expire 3 years. I am totally able to support myself (I have two part-time jobs at the moment) and do not need her help financially.
On the doc checklist, they ask for proof of support by the sponsor and my question is, can I just show them that I can support myself?
If no, then my girlfriend is a student and does not work. She gets support from her dad (who lives in a different country) and her mom (who lives with us and provides food, etc.). She also receives OSAP since she is a student at U of T.
How can I show that she can support me? Do we need to go to notary with her mom and sign a letter or something?
thanks so much!
