Common-Law application and applying for a open work permit...

I previously read that i had to wait for confirmation that the cic had received my mailed in application before i applied for an open work permit...

Is this the case or have i made a mistake?

Also how long does it take for an open work permit to be processed (from others experience)?

If you are applying for the OWP pilot program you should send the work permit application with the main application.

New SCLPC applicants should complete a permanent residence application and an open work permit applications, include the appropriate fees, and submit both simultaneously to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga.

I'm pretty sure you can still submit though, but you may have to wait a little longer than the 4 months that CIC is estimating.
