I'm a US citizen coming to Canada on a NAFTA visa. It's my intention to reside in Canada indefinitely (pending approval of PR, which is already in the pipeline). I currently have a NY State driver's license, and vehicles registered in NY and NC. I will be bringing them with me.
Am I legally required to get an Ontario driver's license while there on the NAFTA visa? It's my understanding that I'm considered temporary while there on the visa. Is there any reason I should (vs just keep my existing license/car registrations until I have PR status). Should I be getting an "International Driver's license" or does that not matter for the US/Canada? Thanks!
