CNIC requirement for International travel at Karachi/Pakistan Airport

I travelled to Karachi, Pakistan from Canada recently, and am now returning in 2-3 days. I have submitted an application for new CNIC just yesterday in emergency, it will arrive in 7 days at-most but I have a flight to Canada before that. NADRA folks told me that I can show NADRA CNIC token document at the airport since they have taken my old CNIC.

I wish to confirm if that is in fact true and hope I won't have any problem during immigration process in international departure and that I can show my valid passport and CNIC token (if asked)?

Please advice.
