Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate if someone knows if I can close my bank account after APR.
I am an expat working in a foreign country so I plan to move back to my home country after APR to spend sometime with family before approving my application. Thus, I will have to close my bank account.

Would it be ok or IRCC will need to check my bank details ? If they will, do you know when it is ok to close it ?

Thank you,

IRCC can verify you POF accounts with the bank.

I would advise you to let the account be as it is, till you get your PPR, if feasible.

If not, transfer all your money to an account [preferably create a term deposit] to an account that will remain open [i.e your primary account].

Raise a CSE and explain why you had to close the account and attach a bank letter of the new account with the funds transferred along with statements of the old account.

IRCC can verify you POF accounts with the bank.
I am not sure they can do that. Banks won’t release this information to a third party

If you have to close down your account, then it's better to show POF in a bank account in your home country only.

I believe you. But, we should assume the worst case, that the bank complies and releases information. Indian banks, espcially the one's under public undertaking are notorious for releasing information, when asked.
