Thanks, indeed I contacted a lawyer and I am waiting for a consultation.
If I switch to visitor, can I restore to worker once I receive the AOR? Or the restoration process is only for when you don't renew your status in time (so if I would let my work permit expires and have no legal status). As far as I understand, you can't switch back from visitor, so the option to restore no longer is viable which means that I loose the possibility to apply for BOWP.
From my understanding, you can apply for BOWP and Restoration of Status at the same time as soon as you receive your AOR.
Also, if you apply before your PGWP expires, you will be in implied status and you can work. But if you switch to a Visitor Visa after your PGWP expires and apply for BOWP and Restoration of Status after you receive your AOR, that is not the case. In that case, you cannot work until they are approved.
That is my understanding. Please let me know if that is your understanding. I would like to know too.
I also want to know, how long after your CSQ was approved on Arrima did the letter get posted?
Maybe this is an obvious question, but what does the AOR look like?
I have received an email (including my UCI and application No) from the IRCC saying in the email text
"This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on 2024/12/30."
Is this the AOR? no official PDF document and nothing saying "Acknowledgment of receipt"?
I also got the Biometric Letter request on the same day.

From my understanding I think that is the AOR but I didnt get mine yet. You should ask in the Federal thread
I asked some friends and it seems like it's the AOR. However, it seems that for Quebec in particular having the CSQ, the AOR is not sufficient for applying for the BOWP as we need the R10 that is the acknowledgment of completeness of the dossier, which takes a few more weeks (for example, I need to give biometric first, but the first appointment available is in two weeks).
As I understand, the restoration of status is really not possible if you switch to visitor but only if you let your status decay without having a legal status. So I don't think that is a possible course for the BOWP.

Ok. I get it, howwever I think the EP number should be enough. At the end EP still starts with "E" (lol).
I never heard that for CSQ holdesr the proccess is different for AOR - BOWP, do you have any offical source for this?

Check the link I posted above, when you select quebec skilled worker it explains that. I'll come back on Monday with answers from the lawyer and confirmations. So far it's just how I understand that text.

I talked with the lawyer, they said they have managed lots of cases like this before and they were pretty confident in the procedure.
According to them, what I have is enough to apply for BOWP (I'm at the AOR stage, with biometric appointment letter). This will allow me to keep the implied status. I have a closed work permit, and even though I cannot work for my former employer anymore (the contract with fixed duration ended), this will allow me to switch to another closed work permit to a new employer, in case I have a job offer. This is because the BOWP may take several months, so realistically I need to find a job before.
They also said it could be even that I get the RP first, but that a BOWP as plan B and the possibility to switch to another employer as plan C make a lot of sense.
They discouraged to switch to visitor, given the uncertainty of the current immigration legislation in Canada and the shitshows going on globally around border security etc.
