Dear Members,
Greetings,
I am applying for a Canadian Study Permit from Nepal for a Master of Computer Science program at the University of Windsor. The program duration is 16 months. I plan to apply together with my spouse as a dependent.
However, I understand that under current IRCC regulations, spouses may be eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) only if the international student is enrolled in certain eligible programs. I have also come across information suggesting that a program of at least two years may be required when applying together.
Could you please clarify the following:

Could you please clarify the following:
- As the student, I will apply for a Study Permit. Can I simply include my spouse as a dependent in my application, and will both of us be assessed together for visas?
- Or does my spouse need to submit a separate application for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)?
- Given that my Master's program is 16 months in duration, would my spouse be eligible to apply for a SOWP at the same time as my Study Permit application?
