I have been invited for Citizenship Oath on Dec 20. However, I am leaving the country (for vacation) on Dec 23 for 10 days.
What I heard is that I will return my PR card on the ceremony day and then I can apply for passport after 48 hours. This will not work for me, as I will have to return back without PR and Canadian Passport.

Anyone with similar experience? Can I request them not to take back my PR card? Or should I re-schedule my Oath date to a future day?

You cannot request them not to take the PR card but you can reschedule your oath date or you can apply for Express passport services with proof of travel.

You can request to have your passport made and collected on the same day. Doesn't make sense to move your oath.
