Hello...

I got an Interview required update in the tracker yesterday for July 21. I am currently in US and in the process of extending my H4. Is there a way that I can request for preponing the interview. I got this interview after completing test on 21st Feb. It's been a long wait so do not want to miss. But if I apply for my visa renewal in the US, I cannot travel outside the country until that is approved. I do not understand what I should do.

Any suggestions please. Really appreciate any thoughful advises. Thank you in advance.

My timeline:
Applied on 17th September 2025.
Aor: 08th December 2025
Test: completed 21st February 2026
LPP: in progress.
Interview: Sheduled for 21st July 2026

Also I traveled out of Canada after applying for Citizenship in Sep 2025 and did not come into Canada yet. Will that create any complexity during my interview? What did anyone tell during interview if they are out of country after applying?

You can ask via webform : https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=786&top=5

Whether the interview gets reschudeled, or if the reschedule date works for you isn't a guarantee. Same for a potential oath invitation in the future. You'll need to figure out the logistics, and if it comes to it, decide what matters more between the Canadian citizenship and your obligations outside the country.

As for the second question : beyond the obvious need to stay within the PR residency requirements, staying in Canada isn't "required", so there's no need to worry about what to say during an interview (and general rule : always say the truth and move on), but that doesn't mean that doing so won't affect your application processing. For example, sometimes IRCC just doesn't schedule the oath ceremony till they get notified that the applicant is back to Canada. But there's no way to say how YOUR specific application's processing will be, if it does get affected and how it does, so just deal with things as they come...
