I'm currently inside Japan trying to call this place. It says "For further information, please call: 1-888-242-2100". I've tried to call from Japan 010+1+888+242+2100. But then it says the number doesn't exist. How do I even call this number from outside of Canada...geeze.

It's a toll-free number and only available if calling from within Canada.

Try 1-613-944-4000 and the choose option 2. Some people have had luck reaching CIC from outside of Canada using this number. Note that this is not a toll free number and you will have to pay the long distance charges.

Edit: I'm not confident that selecting option 2 once you've dialed the number is the right thing to do (they may have changed the menu). Once you've dialed the number, listen to the menu or speak to the operator to reach CIC.
