Hello,

My wife and I are both Canadian and living in the U.S. We would like to apply for citizenship for our daughter so she can have dual citizenship. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I noticed there are at least 3 different forms to choose from when filing and wanted to know the right one to use. My wife was born in Canada but I was born outside of Canada but got my Canadian citizenship after a few years of living in Canada.

I've had a few friends apply for their children. Some say the process was straightforward, some say that their application was sent back for small discrepancies. Others hired lawyers to get the job done. I would like to do it myself as long as it is straightforward.

Thanks.

Hi!

You will need to apply for proof of citizenship for your daughter: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/proof-citizenship.html

This is a pretty handy table and a tool linked below: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/already-citizen.html
