Hello,
My wife and I were both born in Canada. We temporarily moved to the US for work and had a son there. We have moved back to Canada and will be staying in Canada permanently. Canadian immigration said we have two options for our son's citizenship - citizenship certificate or sponsorship. They said the only difference in results between the two processes (besides time, effort, and cost) is that if we go the quicker/easier citizenship certificate route, my son would not be able to pass on Canadian citizenship to his children if they are born outside of Canada. In all other cases, there is no difference between getting the certificate and sponsorship.
Anyone have experience with this? Is this accurate? Besides not being able to pass citizenship on is there any other differences people are aware of? We are thinking of going the certificate route, but I'd appreciate any feedback on for or against.
Thanks,
SFACE
