Experts,
Everyone is confused in Q.9. I am confused too. Please clarify if you can. Will be much appreciated.
I firstly land in Canada in 2013. But when I filled out the Physical Presence Calculator, it shows my eligibility period starting from 2012. My question here is what does Eligibility period stands for ?
This word eligibility has been used in Q.9 (a), Q.9(c) , Q.10(a), Q.11.

It means 5 years time or 3 years which is making you eligible to apply for Citizenship ?
If we count 5 years then Q.9(c) will be YES. If that will be yes then we have to fill the form " Residence Outsider Canada". While this form is not for the people who are not crown prince living outside Canada.

Very confusing questions are here.

Please clarify if you.

I'm no expert, but from the instructions and the information available on the CIC site and here in this forum it seems to be clear that the "eligibility period" is the period valid for obtaining the days of presence in Canada needed to qualify for citizenship. In other words, anything outside the eligibility period does not count for the purpose of obtaining enough days of presence in Canada to qualify for citizenship.

Once the period of eligibility is established (and that is the 5 years immediately preceding the application date), the applicant needs to provide information about how many days DURING THAT PERIOD they were present in Canada, and the status during these days of presence, so that a calculation can be performed to see if the 1095 days threshold has been reached.

I hope I have been clear.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I am filling up the citizenship form and need help with regard to immigration status in the form since I am confused between permit and visa.

I came as a student then got a work visa and then PR. Here is the situation

- If I got my visa with 1st March written on it but I used it on 1st April I should write 1st April right? Permits are more accurate representations of time than visa. Same goes for PR since I didn't claim my PR for a week or so.

- My Student visa expired on 15 April, and I received my work visa on 15 May. In the meanwhile I had my work permit so should I write the date I received my work visa or work permit? In terms of the visa, there is a gap of a month while I was in Canada.

This complaining is getting out of hand... we all went through the PR process and know how slow it can get and shouldn’t really be surprised ... it may seem unfair that someone submitted later already got AOR while some people who submitted earlier are still waiting - but there are no absolute fairness here or anywhere in the world, overall it’s still mostly 12-16 people getting AOR - while a few lucky ones from later days got it too they are not the majority and would not really prove any unfairness going on. In addition to the pace/effectiveness of each individual worker at CIC, there is also the situation when someone in your pile has really messy package of documents that would take more time to sort, such as those included all passport pages, utility bills, and all other things not asked for, therefore delaying the sorting of everybody else in your pile....

And such things will continue in various forms, now it’s “someone got AOR and i am still waiting but my file was delivered earlier”, soon we will see “someone got IP already but his AOR was later than mine “, and there’s really nothing we can do about
Right, just be happy for them
