Hello,

Me and my spouse arrived in Canada on December 25, 2021. Upon our arrival at Toronto airport, there was an outage, and the officer instructed us to leave the airport, advising that our work permits would be mailed to our shared address.

We subsequently received our work permits. However, my Open Work Permit shows a start date of January 6, 2022, whereas my spouse’s Closed Work Permit shows the same date as our arrival, December 25, 2021.

In our Canadian citizenship applications, I included our actual arrival date of December 25, 2021, in the address and work history sections.

My question is: Could the discrepancy between the start date on my Open Work Permit and the dates reported in my address and employment history cause any issues with our citizenship applications?

I have already submitted a web form with a Letter of Explanation (LOE). However, IRCC advised that they cannot retrieve our applications to attach the LOE until processing begins and an AOR issued.

Thank you.

It shouldn't be a problem.
Obviously, you'll need to resend the webform once you get your AOR.
Thank you for the response.

I will definitely submit the web form after receiving the AOR. However, my concern is whether IRCC could return our applications before issuing the AOR due to this date discrepancy.
