Citizenship Application Update in Relation

A friend was single and submitted her citizenship application package in 2018. Now she got a common law partner as they lived together for one year in relation outside Canada. She is confused about the following:
1- Is it necessary to update her status in the citizenship application to be allowed to sponsor her partner in near future?
2- If yes, what would she provide to CIC to be attached to citizenship application?
3- Would this update cause any delay for her citizenship application? eg. an additional background check for her partner during the processing of her citizenship application.

Answer to your question

1- Is it necessary to update her status in the citizenship application to be allowed to sponsor her partner in near future?
No. CIC only cares about the relationship when she plans on sponsoring her common law partner. At the moment, she doesn't have to inform CIC of anything. Her application will be treated as a single applicant and her relationship status will have no bearing on the outcome.

Thank you for your feedback. So citizenship application situation is not similar to the PR application situation. I heard that when someone is applying for a PR, he/she must declare a spouse or common law partner if any, otherwise he/she won't be able to sponsor his/her spouse or common law partner.
