Hi everyone, I’m stuck on the physical presence section of the citizenship application and could really use some guidance.

My PR grant date (on my eCOPR) falls during a period when I was outside Canada, which is causing confusion.

Context:

  • My husband and I completed our virtual landing on Sept 21 while both of us were in Canada.
  • He received his eCOPR on Oct 9. Mine was delayed, and I received it on Oct 16.
  • We had travel planned from Oct 13 to Nov 15, so I was outside Canada when my eCOPR was issued.
  • We re-entered Canada via the US land border (Rainbow Bridge, Niagara).
Has anyone experienced something similar, where the PR grant date falls during time spent outside Canada? How did you handle it in the application?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Since the physical presence tool expects you to be in Canada on PR grant day, the best thing to do :
1) Split your vacation in halves, with one return on PR date and one departure on the same date.
2) Add an explanation letter, say that you added a day of presence in Canada for technical reasons, that you actually were not in the country and do not claim that day of credit. Obviously, your buffer above 1095 days should at a bare minimum cover that day!
