Hello guys, I need help with my study plan for the study permit. I attended an undergrad course in the UK but left after the 1st year so 5 out of 6 modules were marked as failed, 3 of which due to me leaving before I could hand in the assessments. So I don't know if I should mention that in the study plan.
Anyway here is the plan, please feel free to add comments.
--------------------------
I am writing further to explain the reasons why I have chosen to pursue an Undergraduate Earth Science degree at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and my overall education goal.
Two years ago, I attended an Architecture course in the UK but soon realised that a career in designing was unsuitable for me. Therefore I have decided to instead, pursue higher studies in the more career relevant Earth Science. Vietnam’s unprecedented demands on Earth’s natural resources resulting in a growing demand for scientists and professionals equipped to deal with environmental issues means a wide variety of career choices for graduates specializing in Earth science. A science degree focusing on examining Earth’s complex and seeking new and innovative ways to use natural resources will allow me to pursue a more fulfilling and lucrative career once I return to Vietnam.
The Memorial University is a perfect place for me to gather a solid practical approach and a wide technical knowledge base for my future career. The university is known for its excellence in research all over the world and the faculty members are internationally recognized. They are to help me reach my highest potential by providing me with the opportunity to participate in research projects at the amazing geology of Newfoundland and Labrador such as the rare fossils of Mistaken Point and the Tablelands in Gros Morne National Park. The course is also hands-on and inquiry-based, so I will be able to participate in experiments and in-class discussions, which rarely happens in a science course from Vietnam. Graduating from this programme will not only leave me with excellent industry-endorsed scientific training but also a foundation of marketable career skills.
Canada offers an excellent higher education system hence a degree from Canada is highly sought after in Vietnamese workplace. Moreover, Canada boasts an enviable quality of life, with a cost of tuition and living that is comparatively affordable, particularly compared to the UK or US.
I am looking forward to returning to Vietnam from studying abroad with a new perspective on culture, language skills and great education. Being internationally educated will allow me to begin my career at the biggest organisations such as Institute of Environment & Natural Resources, where dealing with foreign professionals requires cross-cultural communication skills and advanced technical knowledge. I am certain that the skills and experience that I obtain in Canada will not only boost my career as an individual but also make contribution to this field of expertise in Vietnam.
Thank you for your consideration on my application and hope that this plan clarifies. If you have any question, please to contact me via email or phone.
