Hi Everyone,

Anybody knows what is happening with Beijing (BJ) visa office (VO)? My last contact from BJ VO was on Janaury 18, 2013 confirming our sponsorship application and medical has been received by their (BJ) office. . . Till now it has been a mystery what is happening?? ???

Can someone explain how the current processing time of 8 months by BJ VO is calculated? Is it at the time of submission of the preminary sponsorship application or after BJ VO received the DM1 with the second step of the sponsorship application?

Thanks ALL :)

Got some good news today, and very fast...received application for permanent residence on November 13, 2012 (at Beijing office), and started processing application on February 19, 2013. Approved for immigration on April 30th, and received passport and all documents back today (May 1st). Even though our case was very easy, we still expected a longer wait.

Hi,

Just an update from us. After 5 months holding the passports, Beijing VO asked for repeats of my wife's and step-daughter's chest x-rays. Can't think for the life of my why they would need these. They passed their previous medicals but of course these have now expired. My wife redid her x-ray in China. My step-daughter is in Canada studying. The potential difficulties this raised to redo were a little daunting at first. No passport (it's in Beijing), but luckily she got some provincial government I.D. earlier and this was very useful at several stages (physician, hospital staff).

Our experience with a Canadian panel physician's office was amazing. Very impressed with the process here for immigration x-rays. Only 1 approved panel physician in our city. They saw us and did the paperwork first thing in the morning (actually before 9 a.m.!) the day after I called and we were in the hospital for the x-ray and out 1 hour after that. Now back to the waiting game

I think we must have one of the records for Beijing VO for the longest time waiting after PPR - 5 months and counting. But as they say - absence makes the heart grow fonder. We eventually will have a well deserved reunion.

FlashG, I'm glad for your progress. My wife received re-medical request two weeks ago, also asking for x-rays. My wife did it but my son is too little for a x-ray so we didn't do it even they asked for my son's xray too. we hope they will understand.
Now i'm wondering how long it will take for them to issue the visa after the remedical is received.

Hey Laomiao,

Congratulations to you! From everything I have read I think this may be our last step. They apparently do not request re-medicals until everything else is passed. I am wondering the same thing as you - how soon will the repeat medical x-rays be processed and the Visas/COPR be issued?

I would think a matter of only a week or two after they receive them. In my case, we had to do two separate x-rays. The one in Canada for my step-daughter was completed at the hospital and we were told it will not be sent for another week as the panel physician who will send it in is on holiday. So I hope my wife will soon be approved in a matter of perhaps just a few more weeks. Just in time to enjoy the summer. Wish the same for you of course! :)

Hi All,

Just received notification by email from BJ VO requesting for an interview early June.

Anyone has this experienced before, and how to prepare for it?? I did received a list of requests for the both of us to bring to the interview.

Does the VO issue the travel document on the same day, if interview is passed??

Many "Thanks" ALL! :)

@big bird

Hi! Congratulations to you! May I ask how long did they hold your passport in your case?

Thanks!

some update: "double addresses" appeared a few days ago on our E-CAS. I just checked the EMS tracking number and found it's already on the way. The status is still "In Process" though.

Holy Batman Laomiao!

Read your e-mail. On a hunch checked our status - lo and behold there may also be change in the address for my wife as well. Current home address now reading the same as the current mailing address - nothing else new, but I am sure it wasn't like that before. Hope it's a sign.

Unfortunately we didn't retain the EMS tracking number for the waybill we provided. Please let me know when your wife gets her COPR.

Wow, I didn't expect this, but did have a premonition last night. Checked e-cas:

DECISION MADE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, our wait is nearly over. My wife will come soon and our family will be reunited.

For everyone waiting - I feel for you, I was in your shoes yesterday. Have faith and patience that your time will come also.

The Beijing office has held my wife and step-daughter's passports for nearly 6 months, but looks like we have made it through.

Woo Hoo! Best of luck to all of you in process and waiting!

My timeline, thus far:
Feb 1st: Application Received
March: Still nothing. I had a friend in Canada call inbound to the Mississauga-based hotline. There, he got my candidate number. When I logged in this number, it said "decision made" and that they were sending a reply by snail mail to tell me what the decision is, which I still haven't received. ???
late March: My wife received an e-mail from the embassy in Beijing requesting her passport. I would assume the sponsorship at my end has been approved if the case has been moved to the embassy here in Beijing.
Basically, my wife has been without her passport since late March and as it approaches June we have not heard anything further. ???
It's nice to hear stories about those who get their PRs granted quickly but I think for many of us, the process from Beijing takes about 8 months, just as the cic website states. We are only hoping to finally get the PR before my China visa expires (January)!
There must be many 1000s of sponsorships happening in China for it to be taking so long. Good luck in sponsorship to all of those in real, non-marriage fraud relationships. :)

Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) Received !! :)

My wife received her COPR by courier today. We are at the end of our long road to becoming a regular family !

Some of the details are as follows. Note that the Beijing embassy held her (and daughter's) passports for 6 months. I think there were several complexities in our case to work through. Whew!

Decision Made 2 (DM2) - notice on e-cas on May 29, 2013
COPR Received from Beijing by courier (EMS return waybill) on June 7, 2013 (received phone call from courier the day before)

My wife now will resign from work - this will be an emotional time - she has worked there for over 20 years. Then we will book a flight for Canada - probably landing in early July.

Thanks to all Forum members - past and present.

Thanks to the processing Professional Foreign Service Visa Officers and other Canadian Embassy Staff.

Best of luck to those in the waiting stage !

Does anyone know how often the Beijing office sends out courier packages ? Is it once a day, twice a week, once a week etc? We are waiting for my family's passports, they e-mailed to say they have sent these to my wife by courier, but the EMS tracking is not yet activated. That was earlier this week. I already sent a Case Specific Enquiry, but of course no response to that.

The good news for anyone concerned about the PAFSO strike is that the Beijing office does still seem to be doing work.
